About Me

Sally Symons BSc (Hons) MCSP SRP
Chartered Physiotherapist & Pilates Instructor

I graduated from The University of East London in 1996 and spent a number of years working in the NHS. Specialising in musculoskeletal outpatients allowed me to continue working with a wide variety of clients including, sports injuries, orthopaedics, rheumatology and women’s health.

After moving onto the private sector, working in the same speciality, I spent a year working in Australia. Upon my return I worked at two major London NHS teaching hospitals as a Senior Clinician. More recently my work has involved management of a large NHS outpatient physiotherapy team.

In 2006/7, I returned to Australia and worked alongside one of Australia’s leading Women’s Health Physiotherapists, Chloe Lorback, who is pioneering the Pilates Method in the field of Women’s Health.

My introduction to the Pilates Method took place during my training at The Royal Ballet School. Pilates was, (and still is) routinely used by the rehabilitation team at the school to ensure dancers recover in a safe and timely manner. I was amazed at the rapid response my body made to Pilates rehabilitation and training.

I have completed several post-graduate courses most notably of which are my Acupuncture and Pilates Class Instructor qualifications. Both of these greatly enhance my repertoire of available treatment modalities when addressing the needs of my clients.

My Pilates Instructor training took place with The Australian Pilates and Physiotherapy Institute (APPI). A UK based company with branches worldwide. It was under the training of Lynne Pearce, a leading voice in the world of Acupuncture & Physiotherapy, that I undertook my acupuncture training. I am an Accredited Member of The Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists. I have undergone specific training in the field of Acupuncture & Women’s Health and Pilates Instruction for the pre and postnatal period.

My interest in the field of Women’s Health has grown since the birth of my own three children. During my first pregnancy I continued to practise Yoga regularly – but with the onset of low back pain I struggled to find anything exercise-wise that could accommodate not only my pregnancy but my pain as well! The discovery that Pilates could allow me to safely exercise during my pregnancy, whilst relieving my low back pain was nothing short of life changing. The added benefits of improved posture and flexibility, as well as reducing stress and improving relaxation were an absolute bonus! Not to mention the speedy postnatal recovery period.

I have combined two areas that I feel most passionate about promoting – Pilates and Women’s Health – to bring you Fit to Deliver.
